Our comparison measures agreement after names are mapped into broad animal groups. It is not an exact-species accuracy test or independent ecological validation. NSW references use dataset labels; the rainforest references use mapped review decisions. Small samples and excluded unidentifiable frames limit what can be inferred.
The production classifier and the separately evaluated SpeciesNet model have different results. SpeciesNet was unavailable on the upload server when checked on 20 September 2026. An offered suggestion is not evidence that it is correct, and a model score is not a calibrated probability.
